Use Your Gift Articles, Esteemed Pickup Subscribers!

Pickup subscribers get unlimited gift articles to share with their buds

Look for this button at the bottom of each article

Big news: You, as a subscriber to The Pickup, can share your favorite (or least favorite) Pickup articles with your friends, colleagues, and countryfellows. They don’t even have to be subscribers to read them. Wow! What a gift!

Well, shucks, that’s why they’re called gift articles! But you don’t need me to tell you that. You need me to tell you how to do it! And so I shall.

How do I send a gift article?
Scroll down to the bottom of this article, right before my little face and name and biography pops up. Instead of reading about me (which, admittedly, would be interesting), click the button that says Gift This Article. If the button is missing, it’s because you aren’t logged into your account.

The button should afterwards say Link Copied! That means that now you’ve got a link in your clipboard that you can paste into anything you wish: a text, an email, heck, even a Facebook post. Respond to your racist grandmother with it. Paste it into the comments of a beloved restaurant’s daily special. Send it to your therapist, whose text line is supposed to be for therapy-related matters. It’s fine.

Why would I send a gift article?
Ease of access! A non-subscriber who receives a gift article can read that article without hitting our paywall. If they want to hit our paywall, for fun, they can click on other links. And we love it when people do that!

Also, it helps us out. Every new reader is a potential subscriber, and the more readers we have, the better chance we have to make this whole thing work. Take this opportunity to do a little marketing for us!

What level of Pickup subscriber do I need to be to send a gift article?
Red Dirt, Sunday Paper, and Certified Gold subscribers are all able to send unlimited gift articles. That’s every level of subscriber!

Oh, that’s fantastic! Should I send a gift article now?
Glad you’re so pleased. Yes, go to your favorite Pickup article and share it with a friend! Try it with this one:

If you liked this story, please share it! Your referrals help The Pickup reach new readers, and they'll be able to read a few articles for free before they encounter our paywall.
