On behalf of The Pickup, I’d like to say thanks to everybody who showed up to Meet The Pickup last week for some decadent burritos and even better conversation. When we started the company in the post-pandemic Zoom-ified new world, it was important for us to do these sorts of low-pressure, in-person events where readers and writers could gather together for real conversations. At the end of the day, we write and edit stories for you, the reader, and these social engagements keep us accountable to that.
Speaking of writers — it was great to interview Micah Cash about all the work that went into his big summer project. If you want to see more big stories like this, become a paying subscriber. They don’t come cheap!
And if you’re like me and the evening now exists as a delicious blur in your memory, then scroll on down from some photos from the event, shot by Ryan McGahan of Well-Told Creative. (Here’s the playlist as well.)
Thanks also to Heirloom Rustic Ales, as well as Old Dog, El Camino and Mister Softee. Let’s keep doing more of these! If you’ve got an idea for the next one, drop it in the comments. I’m all ears.
