It’s Time We Met

You're invited to Meet The Pickup on July 10 at Heirloom Rustic Ales.

After five months of publishing this website, tens of thousands of pageviews, over 300 stories written and thoroughly edited—and not to mention literally dozens of dollars earned—we're pleased to invite you to The Pickup's first-ever event!

We're calling it Meet The Pickup—real original, I know—and we've chosen for it the form of a low-stakes summer hang. To achieve this goal, we've invited our good pal JD McPherson to bring his personal trove of 45s for a rare DJ set inside Heirloom Rustic Ales. There you might consider crushing a few summer beers—I am personally quite partial to the easy-drinking Pool Toy—as you share sparkling conversation with our favorite people on earth: The Pickup writers and readers.

If you don't know JD, he's a beloved local musician and former educator who also tours nationally from time to time. Here he is on stage with Mr. Led Zeppelin himself, Robert Plant, playing guitar on a beloved Led Zeppelin tune which I'm sure was pretty thrilling for all involved.

We'll have three food trucks to keep you from going hungry: Dante's Woodfired Pizza, Old Dog and Mister Softee, as well as merch and subscriber gifts for Sunday Paper and Certified Gold subs. We kindly ask that you RSVP so we know who and how many people are coming—Alicia, Zack and our team of freelance writers are excited to meet you.

If you liked this story, please share it! Your referrals help The Pickup reach new readers, and they'll be able to read a few articles for free before they encounter our paywall.
