"The Marvelous Miss Gender" Starring Bosco

It’s not a fun time to be trans. It seems like every day there’s a new enemy: a new bathroom bill, a new sports-related executive order, a new JK Rowling tweet. I’ve struggled to find bright spots lately amid the neverending horrors, but I found a bit of hope at Cain’s Ballroom on Monday night, when God’s Favorite Transsexual graced the Bob Wills stage.
Since her debut on season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race and her (dare I say) groundbreaking performance on All Stars 10, Bosco has quickly become a fan favorite among the campy, John-Waters-loving crowd. Though she’s since ditched her signature horns, she leans into her devilish persona with wit and straight-up sex appeal. Stopping at Cain’s on her first-ever solo tour, The Marvelous Miss Gender, Bosco gave a hilarious burlesque performance as a sultry villainness, hell-bent on turning the world trans because, if Bosco can’t use public restrooms, no one can! (Yes—the trans agenda: bottom surgery for everyone!)
In this universe, not too dissimilar to our own, Bosco is a diamond thief. Inviting the audience into her lair à la PeeWee’s Playhouse—an obvious inspiration for the show—Bosco jokes with us, confides in us about her hot date later that evening, and bosses around her nonbinary servants, the hench-thems.
Meanwhile, she’s being targeted by the Cisgender 7—an evil coalition of TERFs (trans exclusionary radical feminists, also known as the scum of the earth), Erika Kirk, Caitlyn Jenner, Joe Rogan disciples, and gay men who prefer their LGB without the T—and their leader, Jenn D’Rolls. As the Cis 7 attack Bosco one by one, she defeats them through evocative dance numbers to songs produced exclusively in the ‘80s. Complete with retro transition music straight out of Adam West’s Batman and striptease after striptease, Bosco fights her way all the way to TERF Island.
