Markwayne Mullin Takes Short Break From Ushering Trump’s Cabinet Nominees Through To Let You Know He’s Not Gay Or A Woman

It's news roundup time

Sen. Markwayne Mullin has been calling attention to himself lately as he aggressively expends political capital pushing Trump’s freakishly unqualified cabinet nominations through the Senate

Now on the block is Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer, whose confirmation hearing to become Secretary of Labor was held last week. Mullin’s zeal for cheering on Trump’s nominees has taken him so far as to reconcile his differences with Teamsters boss Sean O’Brien. You might recall O’Brien and Mullin getting stanced up in a Senate hearing back in 2023, a juvenile confrontation where the two stumbled over their own words in dueling, cringey attempts to make the other look bad.

In retrospect, Mullin missed out on a prime opportunity to introduce the country to the genius of one of Oklahoma’s greatest cultural exports, the late Brent Douglas (AKA Roy D. Mercer), by not asking O’Brien “How big’a boy are ya?”

Last week Mullin gathered O’Brien and Chavez-DeRemer for a video posted to his Facebook account, where he acknowledged the 2023 tiff and remarked on an improved state of diplomacy with O’Brien, saying "if we it was [sic] a relationship, I'd be the man in the relationship though, just to make sure we’re clear on this.”

Mullin then proceeds to laugh at his own homophobic, misogynistic joke. His nervous demeanor and delivery suggest Michael Scott if he was auditioning to be a cheery social video influencer. Really rancid stuff going on here.

As he and O’Brien were getting all revved up in the Senate back in 2023, Mullin did say “We can be two consenting adults. We can finish it here.” Interesting! We’ll be monitoring this relationship as it develops.
