Kris Rose

Kris Rose is a Tulsa native and third generation Okie. She's been an active part of the Tulsa punk and underground arts scene since the mid '90s. She's travelled extensively across the United States by freight train, Amtrak, Greyhound, hitchhiking and tour van. Her writing has appeared in The Tulsa Voice and several of her short stories have been published by Red Dirt Press and Microcosm publishing. She wrote the Oklahoma bestselling zine White Riot/Black Massacre: A Brief History of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Her other two zines are about the intersection of feminism and horror, The Final Girl: How horror movies made me a better feminist (which appeared on Joe Bob Briggs' show The Last Drive-In) and Mentally Unbalanced and Violent: The Hagsploitation Film (favorably reviewed by Joe Bob Briggs himself). She currently plays drums in the two piece punk band Fat Dracula, is executive director of Girls Rock Camp Tulsa, events manager and board member of Twisted Arts and is often a guest co-host of Sisters of Cinema at Circle Cinema, hosted by Julia Holeman. You can follow her Tulsa Guide to the Dead & Dying on Substack, and @krisrosetulsa57 on Instagram. She currently lives in Tulsa with her husband Dave Dean, bass player and award winning alternative educator, and many, many animals. In fact, she'd appreciate you adopting a cat or two if you wouldn't mind.
